Starting in the 2026–2027 season, soccer age groups will be based on an August 1–July 31 year instead of calendar birth year. This move helps most players be grouped with kids from their school grade, and reduces issues where some players get left without a team during the middle school to high school transition. Because of this one-time reset, many players with August–December birthdays will stay in the same age group for one extra year, which is normal and expected. Age groups are still technically based on birth date, but McFarland Soccer Club will allow families to request to play up or down in certain situations, in particular to stay with players from their school grade. more information can be found here on our FAQ All requests must be submitted prior to registration using the club’s designated form. For questions see our FAQ or email info@mcfarlandsoccer.org .
